Enrichments
2025-2026
Cottage Lane Elementary School provides several opportunities for students to participate in different Enrichments throughout the school year. Enrichment descriptions and registration information can be found below.
The semesters will run according to the following schedule:
- October 6 - December 20 (make-ups the week of Jan 5)
- March 15 - May 15 (make-ups the week of May 18)
Enrichment timeframes, which will remain the same throughout the entire school year, will be as follows:
- AM Enrichment: 8:00 – 8:40am
- PM Enrichment: 3:50 – 4:30pm
Enrichment teachers will communicate with families on the specifics of your child’s registration (Semester, Day, AM/PM, Time).
Please complete the registration form by Friday, September 12.
Grade 3
Arts and Crafts (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Wednesday AM – Semester 1
Basketball (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Tuesday AM – Semesters 1 & 2
Boys Flag Football (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Tuesday PM – Semester 1
Chess Enrichment (Grade 3) – Friday AM – Semesters 1 & 2
Chess is open to all third graders, from those who have never played before to experienced Grandmasters and everyone in between! Students battle on a weekly basis against each other in chess. Chess will meet every Friday morning that school is in session.
Competition Chess (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Monday AM – Semesters 1 & 2
Students will prepare and participate in competitions in school. This is a more competitive enrichment. We now have chess clocks!
Creative Writing/Poetry (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Thursday PM – Semesters 1 & 2
This is a creative writing experience where students will dive into storytelling and bond with other enthusiastic young authors. Students will explore fantasy, mystery, adventure and magical realism. They will keep a portfolio of their work and share their favorites with an audience of fellow writers.

Girls Lacrosse (Grade 3, 4 & 5) – Wednesday PM – Semester 2
Intro to Computer Typing (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Wednesday AM – Semester 1
Welcome to Typing Club! This fun and easy-to-use program helps you learn how to type using the correct fingers on the keyboard. In Typing Club, you’ll go on exciting typing adventures, earn stars and unlock cool badges as you improve your typing skills. You’ll start with simple lessons and games that teach you where to place your fingers and how to type each letter. As you practice, you’ll get faster and more confident with the keyboard. Remember, you don’t have to be perfect — just keep trying your best and have fun while learning!
NY Road Runners (Grade 3, 4 & 5) – Thursday PM – Semesters 1 & 2
The CLE I RUN Running Enrichment is one activity that will be offered this school year. The group is not just about running (that’s boring)! This group will engage in fun-filled lessons and activities designed to help children make the connection between physical activity, a healthy lifestyle and positive self concept.
Science Symposium (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Friday AM – Semester 1
Explore all the science topics you have always been interested in, but did not cover in science class! Students will explore their curiosities, and choose topics to research and prepare presentations about.
Scooters (Grade 3) – Wednesday AM – Semesters 1 & 2
Scooting comes with many health benefits, especially for kids as they learn and develop. Learning and developing a sense of balance is key to physical development. Balance requires core muscle strength, propelling the scooter with the foot requires leg strength and quick decision-making skills require mental strength.
Soccer Enrichment (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Thursday AM – Semesters 1 & 2
Students will participate in a soccer elective. The focus will be on skill development and game play.
Tang Math Puzzles (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Semester 1
Theatre/Drama (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Wednesday PM – Semester 1
Walking Club (Grades 3, 4 & 5) – Tuesday AM – Semesters 1 & 2
Walking is one of the easiest ways to help students incorporate exercise into their daily routine and create a lifelong habit. Walking is healthy, safe and an easy way to improve your health.

Remote-Operated Vehicles (Grade 5) – Tuesday AM – Semesters 1 & 2
Come and build a Remote-Operated underwater Vehicle (ROV), and learn how these devices are used in ocean science and exploration. We will build our vehicles out of PVC pipe and try them out in the middle school pool. We will host one session in the pool area at the end of the semester.
